Emergency planning

In order to ensure that patients get the care that they need in all circumstances, NHS Medway maintains a Major Incident Plan.

All NHS organisations have to prepare a Major Incident Plan so that when the unexpected happens, your local NHS services are able to continue to give you the care that you need.

Our plans outline how we will respond to any emergency that happens in our area. It also sets out what we expect from the services that we pay for on your behalf.

In recent years in Britain, the NHS has been involved in the response to many emergencies; from floods and serious fires, to the London bombings. We use the lessons learned from responding to these and other incidents to improve our plans.
