Become a volunteer

The Voluntary Services department is responsible for the recruitment, selection, training and management of volunteers in the NHS.

Volunteers give their time and support in order to enhance the quality of life of patients whilst supporting members of staff.

What can a volunteer do?

The National Health Service offers a huge range of exciting and challenging opportunities where individuals can really make a difference.

NHS volunteers support:

  • Hospital wards & departments

  • Health centres & clinics

  • Hospice & residential home (NHS)

  • Administration and clerical roles

  • Chaplaincy

  • Day units

  • Hospital shops

How do you become a volunteer?

Contact us. We will arrange a suitable time for you to attend an interview. You will be asked to provide the names and address of two referees and we will complete a Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure Check. Once all checks have been completed you may be offered a placement dependant upon your skills, interests and time availability.  Our full contact details are:
