Under the government’s reforms to the NHS, NHS Medway Clinical Commissioning Group (MCG) will be taking over responsibility from the Primary Care Trust (PCT) for planning and paying for the majority of healthcare for Medway residents, from April 2013.
We want to become a truly listening, communicating and engaging organisation, supporting people to understand more about their health and by actively incorporating feedback into commissioning decisions. One of the ways MCG as done this is through the creation of its Patient Council.
We held an induction session in August to help people decide if they wanted to apply to be a part of the Patient Council. You can find more information here.
We currently have 18 members on our Patient Council who represent Patient Participation Groups in GP practices, local NHS providers, Medway LINk, and local voluntary and community groups.
We understand that the Patient Council only represents a small portion of the communities that make up Medway. Through our Health Network, we aim to reach the whole population of Medway. Being part of this network means you will receive information about changes to local services, opportunities to get involved in specific projects and consultations and be able to share with us your views and feedback on local health services.
