NHS Kent and Medway have commissioned the service which will allow for the inter-disciplinary assessment of 60 patients with 48 patients attending 4 group programs in a year.
The duration and content of the program based on cognitive-behavioural principles remains the same but the number of follow-up appointments has been reduced and there is no facility for individual treatments. The adjoining PCTs/commissioning groups have made their own arrangements for patients who may require similar treatment.
Referrals to the PMP will have an initial appointment with one of the Consultants in Chronic Pain followed by an assessment with a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and a Specialist Clinician Physiotherapist.
