Advanced services

Request for information from MUR and NMS records.

Pharmacy contractors providing the medicine use review (MUR) service and the new medicine service (NMS) are required by the Pharmaceutical Services (Advanced and Enhanced Services) (England) Directions 2011 to maintain records of the consultations and these records must contain certain data.  This is referred to as ‘approved data’ within the Directions which means that the Secretary of State has specified the data that is to be recorded.

The Directions also allow PCTs to request contractors to provide them with some of that data on a quarterly basis.  Again the Secretary of State has specified what this ‘approved data’ is, the format in which it is to be provided and that it is to be sent electronically to the PCT.  The national reporting templates services for both can be found on the DH website.

The Gateway reference is 16660.

You are therefore requested to provide this approved data. This request is an ongoing request and is made under:

  • Direction 5(1)(j) of the directions – MUR approved data to be provided to the PCT

  • Direction 7(1)(m) of the directions – NMS approved data to be provided to the PCT

The reports should be sent to verity.williams@medwaypct.nhs.uk

The reports must be made available to the PCT within 10 working days of the end of each quarter as follows:

  • 1 October to 31 December 2011 – 16 January 2012

  • 1 January to 31 March 2012 – 17 April 2012

  • 1 April to 30 June 2012 – 13 July 2012

  • 1 July to 30 September – 14 October 2012

  • 1 October to 31 December 2012 – 15 January 2013

Dependent on the passage of the Health and Social Care Bill it is anticipated that the data for the period 1 January to 31 March 2013 will be sent to the Commissioning Board. However that will be confirmed nearer the time.
